Pende ivory whistles are worn as pendants. Most are shaped like a lowercase "h" or have a human head. This unusual form is identified as Pende because its "horns" resemble the hairstyles seen on Pende face pendants and initiation masks. It was also part of a collection of Pende face pendants.
