Through the Broken Wall We Watched the Chameleon Change Its Colors, 1990.
Watercolor on paper

90-10-1, museum purchase

The broken wall represents shattered promises, a country in neglect, hopes unfulfilled. The chameleon changing colors refers to Nigerian political leaders who too often failed to meet the expectations the nation had in the early 1960s.
