As a part of the Africa in Reel Time: Community Voices series, join the National Museum of African Art for a screening of Dingomaro (dir. Kamran Heidari, 2014, Iran, 68 min., Farsi with English subtitles). This documentary follows successful southern Iranian musician Hamid Said as he travels around the country on his motorbike spreading the word about this region’s unique blend of African and Persian influences, its history, and its music. Continuing the Connecting the Gems of the Indian Ocean project, this vibrant film illuminates the rich connections between eastern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
