May 30, 2018
Observed in Africa and around the world, Africa Day commemorates the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on May 25, 1963. Today, the OAU is known as the African Union (AU), and their Pan African Diaspora Women Association (AU|PADWA) is partnering with the National Museum of African Art for an incredible evening to celebrate Africa Day.
Don’t miss out on live performances, a parade of nations, dancing to a live DJ, and our special docent-led “Reel-life” Warriors of Wakanda tours. Join us as we pay tribute to the many artists, known and unknown, in our collections and the diverse cultures they represent!
Light refreshments served.
Free and open to the public. Space is limited; please RSVP via Eventbrite
