As a prelude to the exhibition Good as Gold: Fashioning Senegalese Women, “I AM . . . Wrapped in Gold” is a do-it-yourself jewelry fashioning workshop inspired by the manufacturing, consumption, and passage of gold through Senegal and the beautiful women who adorned themselves in dazzling jewelry and practiced the Wolof concept of sañse (dressing up, looking and feeling good). Re-create some of the exhibition’s most striking jewelry with your own twist!
