Object Number: In most cases, the NMAfA object number identifies the artworks by the year it was acquired, the order in which it was acquired and the object's place within the acquisition. Example, 75-16-2: Acquired in 1975, the 16th acquisition of the year, the second object in the acquisition. Numbers for objects acquired after 1999 begin with all four digits of the year. The exception to this case is the Lamb Collection of Textiles and Weaving implements, jointly owned by the National Museum of Natural History, whose object numbers begin with EJ.

If you know the number of the object, enter it in this field. To find objects acquired in a certain year, enter the first two or four numbers of that year followed by a hyphen (-). Example: 75- for all objects acquired in 1975, 2000- for all objects acquired in 2000.
