I have a figure with his arms open, like a plane, like Christ on the cross or like someone praying with their palms open hoping for deliverance. The figure dressed in fireman’s uniform is covered in concrete dust--I was shocked at the time of the Twin Towers attack like the rest of the world, that people could kill innocent people so easily. I have used copper brass on the head of the Christ figure because it blends into the flames coming out of the twin towers. The picture of the twin towers is on acetate in a glass box, which has the air of the time the sculpture was made in September 2001. (Sokari Douglas Camp) [in progress]

Small-scale steel sculpture of a Christ-like figure bearing an image of the flaming Twin Towers upon its back.
