DOG

The Kongo cherish dogs, which live with man and have no wild counterparts in the forest. They believe that dogs have blood like man's and can see the dead and that before arriving in the village of the dead, one must first pass through a village of dogs. Placing the dog next to scenes of violence may signify such an event, while the lone figure next to the dog may be walking toward the land of the dead.
