In May 2010, curator Karen Milbourne met with Sandile Zulu in South Africa to discuss his work and what should be included in the exhibition. While there, he demonstrated some of his techniques of working with fire for her.
After a visit to South Africa in May 2010 by curator Karen Milbourne, Sandile began creating the works of art included in this exhibition. In September 2010, Christine Mullen Kreamer was able to catch up with Sandile in his studio and record him at work on "Large Colon(y) Brownprint - a population groups case."
