Teaching Africa Day is an interactive family-friendly event raising students’ awareness about Africa!
Teaching Africa Day is an annual, interactive, family-friendly event that brings together educational resources on Africa’s rich cultural heritage. Now in its 9th year, Teaching Africa Day provides a platform for educators, families, and the DMV community to showcase books, films, games, programs, and other resources on Africa and its rich and vibrant heritage in one place. Through an intergenerational panel discussion, readings, performances, an African marketplace, and artmaking workshops, Teaching Africa Day offers diverse narratives to teach, engage, and increase students’ appreciation for the Arts of Africa.
