Celebrate African Heritage Month with the National Museum of African Art and members of the local and global African diaspora community! Docent-led highlights tours will kick off the evening, followed by a community discussion featuring artists and cultural entrepreneurs. Join the conversation as we discuss the preservation and retention of cultural heritage through arts and crafts, technology, language, visual arts, and creative economies. How can the diaspora community engage with traditional and contemporary African arts to contribute, innovate, and educate?
Part of a regular Heritage Talk series, this discussion will allow the museum to hear directly from one of its most important audiences: D.C.’s local African diaspora community. Make your voice heard!
Presented in partnership with the D.C. Mayor’s Office on African Affairs and the local African immigrant community.
Free and open to the public
