Taste! Memory in Lagos
Taste! Memory was a collaboration between Lagos-based visual artist Temitayo Ogunbiyi and Chef Renèe Chuks. Their menu of food and drink (fresh Cuban mint and broccoli leaves grown in the home garden of the artist mixed with Chef Renèe’s locally-sourced squid ink, pineapple, hibiscus, turmeric and bambara) challenged ideas of what is and is not ‘Yoruba’.Taste! Memory was part of 24 Hours of the National Museum of African Art in Lagos, an all-day interactive art experience on November 7th, 2021 at ALARA.
Taste! Sound in Lagos
Taste! Sound was an immersive live listening session with installation artist Emeka Ogboh. Visitors were able to listen closely and together to a soundscape that included field recordings Ogboh made while living in Lagos, recontextualized to highlight contemporary microeconomics, reflect on the social dynamics of immigrant populations, and respond to pertinent planetary issues.Taste!
